Each of these 12″ x 16″ cutting boards is made from conifer wood from the Canadian boreal forests, which is naturally anti-bacterial. The ‘end-grain’ technique serves two important purposes – firstly, it arranges the wood grain to make it self-healing against sharp knife cuts. Secondly, it simply looks more beautiful than straight or side grain. I’ve had my personal board for years and am always impressed as to how well it deflects wear and tear. Cleans well with light detergent, and very resistant to absorbing odours and stains.
Each board is carefully constructed at the studio to show off a pleasing pattern of wave-like end grain. Finish is a double application of food safe butchers block oil.
These can also be personalized with a CNC engraving at no additional cost. “Chef (name)” is always a welcome gift to the aspiring cook.
